Establishment:
The department of Economics established in the year of 1962. The department is running graduate courses for B. A. and B. Com. in the jurisdiction of Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The department has qualified & experienced staff having high teaching & research profile.

Vision:
Department of Economics should be known to imparting quality higher education to rural and socio-economically deprived sections of the society viewing national and global necessities because of the changing and evolving Economy.

Mission:
1. To avail global knowledge of higher education in Economics to rural masses and local community.
2. To provide educational facilities to the students of downtrodden, deprived and backward classes of the society.
3. To prepare the students for further studies in Economics.
4. To promote research attitude and ICT based teaching learning process among faculty and students.
5. To enable the students to accept the challenges of the world economy.
6. To inculcate values of social equality, secularism and national integration among the students.

SWOT ANALYSIS:
Strengths:
1. Qualified and well experienced faculty.
2. Sound infrastructure and good educational environment.
3. Separate departmental Library.
4. Introduced Value added course based on local need (E-banking).
5. Students are familiar with research approach of economics with local problems.

Weaknesses:
Student strength is less because three colleges in our area conducting the same courses.

Threats:
1. Five colleges are coming under college surrounding area therefore competition is inevitable.
2. Kirloskarwadi is industrial area students hold small jobs for living which has not long career.
